Chip’s for Kids Toy Drive
Chip’s for Kids has been a favorite of ours for the last few years!
The California Highway Patrol’s (CHP) CHiP’s for Kids Toy Drive supports Children in Sacramento and surrounding areas who’s Family’s don’t have the resources to purchase gifts during the holiday season. The CHP also uses the new and unused toy donations and deliver them to Shriner’s Hospital in Sacramento.
One of the great things about this program is that the toy drive is application based. The CHP pre-screens parents for warrants so the program weeds out anyone who may not be in good standing with the law. Mostly the connection with Chip’s for Kids comes from our own persona experience with volunteering over the last three years. CHP officers organize and staff the toy drive, they also coordinate all of the events leading up to the big Toy Drive. Bell Brothers has been a drop off location for toy donations over the years, also assisting in the annual bike build day. Bell Brothers Owners, Jerry and Kenny Bell have enjoyed being part of the toy distribution day at Vintage Ford in Rancho Cordova. Jerry and Kenny like the process of the toy distribution day because of the excitement and gratitude the kids bring. The event is full of energy. It’s really cool, Salvation Army comes out, The Sacramento River Cats (a partner of ours) have a team who walk the kids through a completely transformed Vintage Ford showroom. The entire place is wall to wall toys that looks like the north pole!
Needless to say we are passionate about this toy drive. The holidays can be tough for some Family’s and the more we can do to support and uplift the next leaders in our community the better. Right now through December 10th we will be collecting new and unwrapped toys at our Mather location. Please join us in our efforts!
