Bell Brothers’ Core Values and Guarantees: S Is for Supporting Excellence

Recently we’ve had an ongoing series of posts talking about the Bell Brothers’ Core Values. In each post, we take one of our values and examine it in detail. Each value is assigned a letter, and all the letters together make up the word “ETHICS.” This is the sixth and last post in the series of six.

Excellence isn’t just an idea or an abstract phrase to us–it’s something concrete that we strive for every day. We know what excellence looks like, whether from ourselves or in others, and our clients do as well. As HVAC contractors it’s our job to support people who strive for excellence–whether those people are our employees, our clients, or our competitors!

We Embrace Competition

We have zero interest in being a monopoly. Even if we could keep up with all the HVAC demand in the region by ourselves, we’d lose out in the long run. Business isn’t just about making money, it’s about providing quality service. Having other HVAC companies in the region keeps us honest, keeps us on our toes, and keeps us pushing to treat our clients better and perform our jobs better! It makes our pricing competitive and gives us yet another reason to be excellent.

It also gives us a great industry in the region to participate in. We run into other HVAC guys all the time, and we love exchanging stories, techniques, and ideas with them. We’re humble enough to admit that more than a few things we do came from ideas given to us by other HVAC and trades companies. Our industry as a whole is a wonderful community to be a part of!

And we know that by working as hard as we can, we improve our industry as a whole. Setting a high standard encourages others in our trade to do the best they can and to be excellent in everything they do. That’s what competition does: It inspires everybody to new heights. And there’s nothing wrong with that!

We Provide Top-Notch Training

“The No Surprise Guys” isn’t a title that’s given. It’s earned. And our training is where it starts–by the time our guys get done at our training facility, they’ve worked on every piece of HVAC and plumbing equipment imaginable.

That means that when they get to your home, they’ve seen it all before and they aren’t surprised by anything. We’ve had clients google their problems over and over again on the internet without results before having us come in and take a look. Our guys go in and see what’s going on, and then run the client through the problem, solutions, and pricing options. No standing around or wasting time–they get to work and find the problem.

When you have our guys there, you can be sure they know what they’re doing. So when they give you a price quote, it’s a fair one for the work that needs to be done. We trust our guys so much that we stand by those quotes–you won’t be surprised by any changes in price. Whether it’s an HVAC tech, a manager, or the company owner, the price you’re given is the only price you’ll pay.

Bell Brothers Pushes for Personal Growth

We have all kinds of employees, and we recognize that diversity is the lifeblood of a strong company. Different kinds of people bring different ideas and experience, and all of that is vital to giving our clients the best experience possible. But with that diversity comes different desires–every employee has their own goals in life, and different ways of pursuing those goals  both inside and outside of work.

We think that’s a good thing. If someone wants to do something different, learn something new, or take a shot at working in another role in the company, we encourage that–in fact, we push for it! Training never stops at Bell Brothers–we want our employees to find the right place for them in the company. Happy, well-placed employees work harder and make for a better company atmosphere than employees who feel “stuck” in their positions or unvalued by their employers. We never want our employees to feel like that.

We also support our employees outside of their company and professional goals. We’re not just coworkers, we’re a family, and family looks out for each other. Whether it’s helping someone through hard times, showing up at a music show one of our guys is playing at, or hanging out on the weekends, our family sticks together and pushes each other to reach their goals, whatever they may be.
