St. Baldrick’s Success 2015
Thanks for checking out St. Baldrick’s Success 2015!
We are still energized from all of the positive energy and community engagement from this weekends St. Baldrick’s Fundraiser at Raley Field. All weekend the question came up, “What is Bell Brothers connection to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation?”. Bell Brothers Owners, Jerry and Kenny Bell were introduced to some of the volunteers for Keaton Raphael Memorial (KRM) a few years ago. After learning about the great work KRM does in the community, they were inspired us to support their efforts. KRM is a non-profit foundation supporting families who’s children are diagnosed with cancer. Referrals to Keaton Raphael Memorial come from social workers around the region, including Sutter, Kaiser, UC Davis and the Mercy Hospitals. When a child is diagnosed with cancer it is a very difficult journey for the entire Family and thanks toKRM they are able to offer Family’s not only financial support, but emotional support as well. KRM has also been a partner in hosting many of the Sacramento regions St. Baldrick’s head shaving events for many years. Our partnership with KRM naturally evolved into hosting our own head shaving fundraiser benefiting St. Baldrick’s in partnership with Keaton Raphael Memorial.
Bell Brothers has always had a passion for giving back and community connection. We are fortunate enough to have been able to grow our business over the last 20+ years from a two man shop to a leader in the HVAC and plumbing industry. We wouldn’t be able to do that without the support of this community. We embrace our responsibility as business leaders in the region to give back when we have the opportunity. It is the very least we can do, and our pleasure.
Now that you know how we are all connected, let’s talk about fundraising for pediatric cancer research! Let us begin by sharing a few details from our first St. Baldrick’s Fundraiser in 2014. Last year we held an “All Company” head shaving event at our office here in Mather, CA. We had 50 employees show up at 6am to shave their heads to benefit childhood cancer research and they raised over $7,000!! We were so incredibly proud. After the event was over we started to daydream about how we could raise more money and make a bigger impact.
So we reached out to our friends at The Sacramento River Cats. They did not even hesitate to allow us to use the facility. Wow, now we had to raise the bar! We set our 2015 fundraising goal to $25,000. A lot more than we raised last year but we knew we could do it. We were so moved by the outreach from our vendors, friends and family. When we announced what we were doing and our big goal we had an outpouring of support. Special thank you to Cambi Brown and Melissa Cabral of Good Day Sacramento for covering the event. KCRA 3 also came out and did a beautiful job covering the event. Here are some of the media coverage, in case you missed it. Carmichael Dave and the KHTK team came out in full force, as well as Pat & Tom from KNCI.
TODAY we have $22,293 in online and cash donations. So incredibly close to our goal and donations are still coming in! If you wish to donate CLICK HERE.

Here are a few statistics on childhood cancer research:
Worldwide, a child is diagnosed every 3 minutes.
More children are lost to cancer in the U.S. than any other disease—in fact, more than many other childhood diseases combined.
All types of childhood cancer combined receive only 4% of U.S. federal funding for cancer research.
